Panel Discussion at Universidad de las Americas in Manta

Public Affairs Officer, Michael Greenwald and Lieutenant Coronel Xavier Delucca, Administrator of the Forward Operating Location (FOL) in Manta participated in a panel discussion at Universidad de las Americas.  The panel also included three international law students who presented their views on the issues that concern Ecuadorian citizens about the military operations at the Base de Manta Eloy Alfaro.

Embassy officials explained that the US military presence in Manta is a joint effort with the Ecuadorian Armed Forces to carry out antidrug surveillance along the pacific coast.  Approximately 100 students and staff attended the second of a three conference series at UDLA.
