The Superior Post Graduate Institute for International Science at the Central University, the largest public university in Ecuador, invited Economic Officer Josh Cartin to speak on international trade and US– Ecuador bilateral relations.  Over thirty students and six deans from law, political and social science schools attended the conference and participated in an open forum discussion about ATPDEA extension, advantages and disadvantages of free trade agreements, technical assistance and various other issues of mutual interests for American companies, such as Occidental and Machala Power, as well as other issues of concern such as the Manta FOL.

The Director of the Institute, David Vela, expressed his gratitude towards the Embassy for its willingness to participate in the conference and invited other officers to partake in similar presentations on matters of mutual interest in the near future.
