March 19, 2008

Political Officer James Cohen during his intervention
 Political Officer James Cohen
Political Officer, James Cohen, made a  presentation and conducted a discussion of the U.S. Elections Process for an audience of 60 students from the Law and Communications Schools of  SEK University in Quito.

The presentation touched on the historical evolution of the primary and general elections process in the United States and the nuances of the 2008 U.S. Elections.  Students were very interested about how issues such as trade, immigration and hemispheric relations are viewed by the Republican and Democratic parties and the possible implications of the different election outcomes.  This is the first of a series of conferences at Quito universities on the 2008 elections, which are being closely followed by Ecuadorian students and academics.  (images)
