non-immigrant visas

Welcome to the Non-Immigrant section of the American Embassy in Quito.  Considering your interest in visiting the United States, we hope that the information available on the website will help you in your preparations for your trip.

If you would like to visit the United States temporarily, you should gather all documentation and be sure to fill out everything completely and truthfully in order to obtain a Visa to the United States.  It is important to understand that there is no guarantee of your entry into the United States and that the Department of Homeland Security provides the final authorization of entrance and the length of your stay.  We strongly suggest NOT purchasing your airline tickets until your visa has been approved and you have received your passport.

If you would like to know the current wait time to get an appointment, please click here.

The Consular section of the Embassy in Quito only processes visas for those who live in the following provinces: Bolivar, Esmeraldas, Pastaza, Orellana, Carchi, Imbabura, Pichincha, Tungurahua, Chimborazo, Napo, Sucumbios, Morona Santiago, Cotopaxi and Santo Domingo.

Note: If you reside in another province you should visit the website of the Consulate of Guayaquil and learn the steps and procedures for obtaining a visa.

Depending on the type of travel you plan to perform, you would need to meet all the requirements according to the type of the visa you apply.

After you have verified the information regarding your visa type, you will need to purchase a PIN, $ 12.00 fee, from Banco de Guayaquil or pay by credit card when you make the phone call to the call center.

With your PIN, you will be able to call the following numbers from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm to schedule your appointment:

In Ecuador:  1-800-010-145
In the United States: 1-800-919-5290

Students and Exchange Visitors
If you are traveling as a student or exchange visitor please call the visa information service (see contact information above) and inform the operator that you are traveling for study or an exchange program.  You should schedule your appointment with as much advance notice as possible.  However, in some circumstances the operator may be able to expedite appointments for students and exchange visitors.

Groups
Groups intending to travel together to the United States should provide the call center representative with the names of all group members and your purpose of travel.  Each member of the group must purchase a USD $12.00 PIN for their appointment.

Persons with Disabilities

If you have a disability and require accommodations at the time of your interview, please inform the call center operator at the time of your call.

Please review the application steps (how to get a visa) for more detailed information and if you have any emergency travel, please review the guidelines.
