U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Ecuador Resident Office - (USACE)

The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) supports the Department of Defense, the Department of State, the host nation and the United States Mission in Ecuador with infrastructure design and construction. Funding for USACE infrastructure projects comes from numerous US and host nation agencies. Presently in Ecuador, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is supporting the Ecuadorian Navy, the United States Southern Command, the MILGRP, the United States Air Force and the Narcotic Affairs Section of the Embassy. The design and construction support ranges from small purchase order contracts which are less than $100,000 to the dredging of the Guayaquil Port Access Channel ($18 million) to the design and construction of the MILCON (Military Construction Fund) funded Forward Operating Location ($67 M) in Manta, Ecuador.

In addition to that, the Corps of Engineers is currently supporting USAID in various other Latin American countries such as Honduras, El Salvador, and Peru, designing and constructing projects related to social and productive Infrastructure (water systems; sewer systems; roads and bridges). Based on this experience and with an adequate coordination, USACE can provide technical assistance for both Northern and Southern Border programs in Ecuador.
